SHOUTING OUT 01: Being a "Yes" Person
Erika Klein founded Shout over 22 years ago with an open, positive attitude that’s since served her and the people around her both personally and professionally.
In the first entry of Shouting Out, Shout Public Relations’ founder, Erika Klein, discusses how being a “yes” person enhances her life.
When I started my business I said “yes” to everything. I did this because I believed that saying “yes” often led to more opportunities, which would help my company grow. Over the years, I’ve learned that saying “yes” to everything professionally can be a distraction, so sometimes I’ll say “no,” especially if it’s not to the benefit of a client or my business.
Now I say “yes” to opportunities that are closer to my goals: continuing to do the best work possible, learning more about the changing industry and how it relates to our business, and enjoying what the day brings.
Otherwise, I’m a “yes” person too—having started Shout PR on my own and mothered an amazing daughter, I’m proud of how often I say “yes” to life, no matter how busy I get, and I always do my best to encourage others to do the same.
